DG’s Partner, Janette Jackson, launched her project for the current Rotary year, which is centred on raising funds for the Rotary International effort to rid the world of the dreadful disease of poliomyelitis.

This disease has been around for centuries, but with continued involvement of Rotary and other agencies, this century could see THE END!

The task is not yet done – there are not many places where polio still exists, but our funds are needed to enable vaccinations to continue, for research to keep ahead of the mutations of the virus, and to ensure that every child will have the gift of a polio-free life.

Rotarians and Partners are asked to make a very big effort to boost the fund, the End Polio Now Fund, with contributions. Contributions can small (every cent helps), or partners may organise events (the more fun the better!), and send the proceeds in to the District Treasurer, Bob Wood.

I look forward to hearing from our hard working Rotary friends over the next several months!
