Nearly forty members, including partners and family members took part in Thursday night's barefoot bowls night in recognition of Australian Rotary Health's annual Hat Day celebration......
Nelson Bay Bowling Club supplied Ray as bowls coordinator and BBQ cook for the night. Many attending the evening had never played lawn bowls before, while most had very limited experience. It was a lot of fun on the greens and all those who participated enjoyed the experience.

After our BBQ meal, ARH Health Life Member and Ambassador, Don Whatham presented a cheque for $1,000 to District 9670 ARH representative Chris Bartlett. Don briefly outlined the great contribution ARH Rotary Health makes to medical research in Australia, particularly to Lifting the Lid on Mental Health. Don also referred to a press release from ARH regarding recent grants of over $1.6 million to serve the cause. This article is published on the District 9670 website under "Download files".

Chris responded by thanking the Club Board for their support and all members for their volunteering contributions, which enable our club to make this and other community donations happen. The $1,000 was part proceeds from a Bunnings BBQ held in early December.

Judging from comments by the members, it has been suggested we might like to make this an annual event.
