Rotary Clubs across District 9670 are encouraged to recognise extraordinary individuals in their community by making a donation to the Rotary Endowment Fund.
Each year, the partner of the District 9670 Governor chooses a cause to support, and seeks the help of Rotarians across the District to raise funds and promote the cause.
Mike Ryan, partner of District Governor, Helen Ryan, has announced the Fund as his official ‘Partner’s Project’ for the 2017-18 Rotary year.
The Fund ensures Rotary programs have a strong future and are financially sustainable. Contributions to the fund are invested and professionally managed to provide a stream of income to support local, national and international projects that benefit people.
“Rotarians are known across the community as individuals committed to making a difference, and this Fund allows them to continue projects like providing fresh drinking water to people and improving educational outcomes for local students” Mr Ryan said.
“With Rotary Clubs making a donation to the fund, they will contribute to the growth of one of the largest charities in the world – the Rotary Foundation. This will ensure future generations can continue to benefit from Rotary projects”.
Mr Ryan hopes that Rotary Clubs will accept his challenge to contribute to the Fund, and create a legacy by making the donation in the name of a local non-Rotarian who has made a difference in their community.
“There are so many fabulous, community-minded individuals across our District, and this will ensure they are recognised for their contribution to humankind” Mr Ryan said.
Those individuals who are recognised through a contribution to the Fund of $100 or more will be presented with an ‘Immortal’ Badge to highlight their commitment to society, and how their positive actions will assist Rotary in making a difference in the lives of people across the globe.
“By presenting these special individuals with an ‘Immortal’ Badge, I hope Rotarians will be able to promote the fantastic work Rotary does through their programs, whilst also celebrating the many contributions that are made by non-Rotarians in communities across our District”.
