Christmas With Charlestown's Rotary Exchange Students

Charlestown Rotary Adds an International Flavour to The Hamilton Christmas Tree Carnival

Hamilton Uniting Church Christmas Carnival took on an international flavour when two Rotary Youth Exchange students decorated a Christmas Tree to raise funds in aid of ShelterBox Australia. ShelterBox provides emergency disaster relief supplies such as family-sized tents, cooking materials and bedding for people who are in the middle of a disaster.

These two young ladies Chien-Chen HO (Candice) from Taiwan and Linda Mietes of the Netherlands are having a great time spending twelve months in Australia being hosted by the Rotary Club of Charlestown. Having Candice and Linda helping out at a charity fundraiser was appreciated by all and added to the great community feeling at the tree decorating and opening event.
We encourage all District 9670 Rotarians to support the ShelterBox Christmas fundraising by visiting the Church at 150 Beaumont Street in Hamilton, to have a delicious light lunch, and vote for and making a donation (preferably) to our tree, Number 8.
